Bridlington Town has confirmed that Michael Coulson is leaving the club following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract so he can pursue a new opportunity in a promotion race.
Bridlington Town has officially confirmed that Michael Coulson will be leaving the club with immediate effect.
The departure comes after both the football club and the player mutually agreed to the termination of his contract, a decision made to allow him to pursue a new opportunity elsewhere.
Coulson is now set to move on and join an unnamed club that is currently pushing for promotion via the play-offs.
While Bridlington Town is naturally disappointed to see a player of his calibre depart, the Board of Directors and the management team felt it was only right to honour his request to leave.
The club formally acknowledged his immense contribution to the Seasiders. They stated that they had no desire to stand in the way of a move that Coulson personally feels is right for the next stage of his career.
During his time at Queensgate, Coulson's overall impact went far beyond his regular performances on the football pitch.
Earlier this season, when Bridlington Town found itself in a challenging position, he stepped up without hesitation to serve as the interim manager.
The club highlighted that his leadership during that specific transitional period was absolutely vital in stabilising the squad and maintaining their competitive spirit.
A spokesperson for Bridlington Town said:
"His professionalism, work ethic, and commitment to the badge have been exemplary. Whether leading the line or leading from the dugout, Michael has earned the respect of everyone at Queensgate—from his teammates and staff to the supporters in the stands."
The club added that they fully understand his strong desire to test himself in a high-stakes promotion race at this advanced stage of the season.
They emphasised that he leaves Queensgate with their full support.
Bridlington Town has officially placed on record its sincere thanks to Coulson for his incredible effort and dedication throughout his time with the team.
The club spokesperson said:
"He stepped in for this club when we needed him most, and his efforts as interim manager will not be forgotten. He goes with our very best wishes for the future."
The club also added a final message of gratitude, saying thank you to 'Coulo'.
Speaking on his departure from Bridlington Town, Michael Coulson said:
"I would like to say a massive thank you to the fans for their incredible support during my time here. I also want to thank the club for the opportunity they gave me, especially for trusting me with the role of interim manager earlier this season.
At this stage of my playing career, I really want to push myself and take on this new challenge while I can. I wish everyone at Bridlington Town the very best for the remainder of the season and beyond"
