Plans for a Lobster Hatchery in Whitby have taken a step forward as the projects initial fund raising target has been hit.
The team behind the venture set out to raise £20,000 through crowdfunding. A total they have now surpassed.
Project Manager Joe Redfern says the hatchery aims to become a key part of developing a more sustainable fishing industry in the town.
The Whitby Lobster Hatchery project aims to release 100 thousand juvenile lobsters in to the sea each year and open a visitor centre highlighting the species.
Joe says the support from the community and local business has been excellent.
The new hatchery will be based at the unused section of the town's fish market. Initial plans have been developed and have been highlighted in a new video released by the Hatchery team this week.
