
On Sunday morning, Police in Scarborough had four people in their cells following arrests related to drink-driving offences.
The incidents, which occurred overnight, highlight ongoing concerns about road safety and the dangers of impaired driving.

Hartlepool Man Arrested After Altercation: A 34-year-old man from Hartlepool was taken into custody after blowing 77µ/100ml of breath at the roadside following an altercation at Flamingoland. He refused to provide an evidential reading, leading to a charge for failing to provide. He is scheduled to appear at Scarborough Magistrates Court on September 15, 2025.

Aggressive Behaviour Leads to Arrest: Officers responded to a call from Flamingoland security regarding an aggressive individual. A 45-year-old man from Knaresborough was arrested after providing a roadside breath-test reading of 83µ/100ml. In addition to the drink-driving charge, he was also found in possession of Class A drugs. His evidential reading in custody was 66µ/100ml. He will face charges at Scarborough Magistrates Court on September 15, 2025.

Blocking Road Incident: A 26-year-old man from Scarborough was arrested after being reported for blocking a road. Upon police arrival, he provided a roadside breath test reading of 67µ/100ml. He has been charged with driving over the prescribed limit and being drunk in charge of a vehicle. He is set to appear before Scarborough Magistrates Court on September 18, 2025.

High-Level Drink Driving Arrest: A 36-year-old man, whose identity is currently unknown, was apprehended after a member of the public reported erratic driving on the A64. He blew an astonishing 144µ/100ml at the roadside, which is more than four times the legal limit. His evidential reading was 124µ, still over three times the legal limit. He will also appear at Scarborough Magistrates Court on September 15, 2025.
Authorities are urging the public to report any suspected impaired drivers. "If you believe you are following a driver affected by drugs or alcohol, please call us on 999," a police spokesperson stated.
