The Environment Agency has warned of flooding at Hornsea.
They say areas most at risk include properties around the leisure centre and behind South Promenade as far as Hornsea Burton Road, including Grainger Road and Pasture Road.
They continue to monitor the situation closely and are closing the North and South promenade floodgates. They say to stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the waves, and sea spray could be dangerous.
Areas around Withernsea and the River Esk between Whitby and Staithes may also be affected.
