A number of fire crews dealt with the incident on Tuesday.
No one was injured and evacuating hotel guests were taken in by the nearby Inn On The Moor.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue later tweeted:
" Crews remain at the scene of the fire to a property in Goathland, they are using hose reels to fight the fire"
In a post on social media, the Mallyan Spout Hotel said:
"So we have had a fire here this afternoon, details of which are yet to be confirmed but we have suffered some damage to a small part of the building. All staff and guests made it safely out of the building and no one has been injured, which is the most important thing. This does mean that until we can assess the damage and see what we are up against we will be closed until further notice. We will be contacting anyone who has reservations with us. We thank everyone for their well wishes and of course our amazing fire service and a massive thank you to The Inn On The Moor for looking after our guests. Also to our staff, you are simply outstanding and we love you all xx. Sorry for any inconvenience and we will keep you updated"
