An East Riding destinations team have once again demonstrated its commitment to delivering outstanding customer care by retaining the prestigious Customer Service Excellence Award for 2026.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s destinations team covers Bridlington Spa, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, South Cliff Holiday Park as well as coastal services and countryside teams.
The accreditation follows a detailed independent assessment as part of the national scheme’s rolling programme with staff recognised for their dedication to providing excellent visitor experiences and for their collaborative approach in supporting colleagues across the wider service.
Assessors praised the consistently high standards of customer service across all areas of the destinations service, highlighting the strong customer-focused culture embedded throughout the organisation.
The assessment also confirmed that, following the previous inspection, the destinations team had successfully acted on all recommendations made by assessors and is now fully compliant across all assessed areas. This achievement reflects the service’s commitment to continuous improvement and its proactive approach to strengthening customer service standards.
In addition to retaining the core accreditation, the destinations team continues to hold a number of “Compliance Plus” ratings, awarded for going beyond the standard requirements in key areas of service delivery. These commendations recognise innovative approaches to customer communication, engagement and accessibility, ensuring visitors receive information and support tailored to their individual needs.
Councillor Nick Coultish, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
“Retaining the Customer Service Excellence Award for 2026 is fantastic recognition of the hard work, professionalism and dedication shown by our destinations teams every day.
“Just as importantly, the team has embraced the recommendations from the previous assessment and successfully implemented improvements that have resulted in full compliance across all areas. This demonstrates a real commitment to learning, developing and providing the highest possible standards of service for residents and visitors alike. This accreditation is further evidence of the quality experience people can expect when they visit the East Riding.”
Coby Kemp, Destinations Service Manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, added:
“Achieving the Customer Service Excellence accreditation once again is a significant accomplishment and reflects the collective efforts of teams across all our destinations to deliver welcoming, accessible and high-quality experiences.
“The latest assessment acknowledged not only the high standards we consistently deliver, but also the positive action we have taken in response to previous recommendations. Reaching full compliance is an important milestone and demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement.’’
