
An elderly man sustained serious injuries after being struck by a van in Scarborough on Wednesday morning, prompting a police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the junction of Westbourne Park and Seamer Road, outside the Jehovah’s Witness Church. The collision involved a silver Volkswagen Transporter van and a male pedestrian, aged in his 80s.
According to North Yorkshire Police, the van was travelling along Seamer Road in the direction of Falsgrave Road prior to the collision. Authorities noted that traffic in the area was busy at the time of the incident.
Police are appealing to the public for assistance. A spokesperson stated,
"We are appealing for witnesses and information, including dashcam footage, following a serious collision." They urged anyone who observed the van or the pedestrian before the collision, witnessed the collision itself and has not yet spoken to the police, or possesses dashcam footage of the pedestrian, the van, or the collision, to come forward."
The injured man was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the van is expected to be interviewed by police as part of the ongoing investigation.
