Speaking at a meeting earlier this month, Borough Councillor Heather Philips said there was a real danger from open fires that were being lit in the area.
A number of tents were using the grassed area over the summer with many lighting open fires or barbecues during the dry spell.
Borough Council Cabinet Member Councillor Carl Maw says the council is aware of the issue but says it's not all holiday makers.
