The delivery of Filey's ten year master plan is going to be overseen by a new community partnership.
The "Vision for Filey" strategy aims to create a “people-focused town centre” and to connect the edge of Filey and the centre.
The programme of regeneration projects is going to be overseen by a new board consisting of seven local councillors and seven local residents.
Matthew Joseph is one of North Yorkshire Council's Neighbourhood support officers, he explains the role of the Community Partnership.
The idea is that the programme is lead by a Community Partnership encompassing local people along with representatives from the Town Council and North Yorkshire Council.
It will deliver a series of projects identified in the "Vision for Filey" document and also oversee projects already underway after the former borough council allocated one million pounds to the town last year.
Neighbourhood Support Officer - Matthew Joseph - says the new board will have access to specialist help to actually deliver the projects.
A series of public events took place earlier in the year explaining the idea behind the community partnership and inviting local people to put themselves forward to be part of the executive Board. Twelve local residents expressed an interest in being on the board, Cayton Parish Council was asked to carry out a selection process for the seven public positions on the board and has now filled those positions.
The board is expected to meet monthly, Matthew Joseph says it's expected that the projects will be arranged into three work streams.
