This month is the tenth anniversary of organised youth disability football in Scarborough.
Shaun Tymon and brother Paul started the group with help from Scarborough Athletic FC.
Shaun told Paddy more:
"It was great right from the start, it was. We started it, my, my brother and I, just saw something on Facebook. We called it frame football at the time. because a lot of the children who played initially had walking frames because they had cerebral palsy and similar conditions.
"And so we thought we'd just got to do something to support this in Scarborough and discovered that there wasn't anything like it anywhere near. We did a couple of fundraisers, spoke to people at the football club, and they've been behind us ever since. It's the support from Trevor Bull and the rest of his team has just been been incredible.
"It wouldn't have happened without them."
Shaun emphasised that the Seadogs coming on board makes a big difference:
" That was the key thing for the football club being involved that as you say, the children who play are playing for one of Scarborough's teams. It's initially the frame football team. Now it's the community foundation football for everyone team or whatever you want to call it.
We tend to call it the seagulls because it's easier to remember. But yeah, we've got that, they all have the kit from the from the Boro and it's just part of that organisation, which is what makes it so good. Initially we had a lot of children who had walking frames and we tend to have much more of a wider mix of disabilities [now] that we can support."
The next session is 21st February. You can hear the full interview on Episode 63 of the Seadogs podcast.
