With less than a year to go until local government reorganisation in North Yorkshire, council bosses say the new body will be local.
A single big council for North Yorkshire will be "in tune" with local issues.
That's the reassurance from council bosses with just less than a year to go until the biggest shake up of local government in the county since the 1970's
Scarborough Borough Council and the County Council will be replaced next April with a unitary authority.
County Council Chief Exec - Richard Flinton - says the plans for the new authority are built around providing local services and accountability.
North Yorkshire is England's largest county and from next April there will be one council serving the entire area and taking on all the responsibilities of the existing county council and the seven district and borough councils.
County Council chief Exec - Richard Flinton - says that despite it's geographic size the new authority will still be local.
