North York Moors Railway are embarking on a £200,000 restoration mission for a classic train.
They say The Green Knight is a local legend, having carried the Olympic Torch from Whitby ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
It's one of only six locomotives of its type that remain and only a handful of engines that can haul mainline services to Whitby.
NYMR's team of staff, apprentices and volunteers are hoping to complete the complex restoration but need to raise half the 400 thousand pound cost.
