A former teacher has been struck off for telling a pupil he would attend a school production of Grease if she was wearing a "low-cut crop top and tight trousers".
John Kerr, 75, has been reprimanded by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) for inappropriate behaviour at Berwickshire High School in the Scottish Borders in 2018 and 2019.
In one instance, the ex-history and modern studies teacher was said to have been asked by a female pupil in December 2018 whether he would be attending the school's performance of Grease.
He reportedly responded along the lines of: "I will if you are going to be wearing the low-cut crop top and tight trousers, but I might not have a job the next day."
When advised the girl would not be appearing in a particular role, he was said to have replied: "I would be less inclined then."
A second pupil complained that in February 2019 Kerr shouted at them, spat on his own hand and wiped it on the schoolchild's arm, and pushed them.
On the same day, a third pupil claimed Kerr shouted several derogatory comments at her, which included "I am going to kick your teeth in", "you'll never be as smart as me, I have written over 50 books", "you are thick and stupid, you will never make anything of your life", "I will be the end of you", and "I will be the last thing you see".
Kerr, who has not taught since 2019 and has no plans to return to teaching, denied the allegations.
However, a GTCS fitness to teach panel found them proved and concluded he should be removed from the teaching register for one year.
Hearings were held in March and August this year, with the decision published on Tuesday.
Kerr claimed the allegation made by the first pupil was "totally false and malicious", arguing he had no recollection of the musical and had been away in Seville for 10 days at the time.
He also denied spitting on his hand and wiping it down the second pupil's arm, claiming he put his hand to his mouth and "loudly cleared his throat" before reportedly separating a group of boys who were allegedly annoying another pupil.
A claim he told the third pupil "I am going to burn you" was found not proven.
Kerr had denied saying it, stating in evidence the phrase sounded like something "taken [from a character in] a comic".
Kerr's representative Iain Glennie, from the Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association, told the panel his client was now 75 and had "no plans" to return to the profession.

The panel concluded that Kerr "failed to act professionally and had demonstrated a total disregard for the impact of his actions on others".
They added: "The teacher displayed a lack of control of his own behaviour especially when provoked, or in response to comments from young people."
While Kerr has not worked since 2019, the panel said there was a "likelihood of recurrence" given the absence of any remediation and reflection or demonstration of remorse.
Finding Kerr's fitness to teach impaired, the panel ruled: "The panel determined that the removal of registration was the appropriate and proportionate sanction in this case."
