Barry George has been charged with rape and indecent assault, following a police investigation.
The Metropolitan Police Service issued a charge and requisition to George, 65, of County Cork, in the Republic of Ireland.
He has been charged with one count of rape and two counts of indecent assault.
All allegations are historical and are claimed to have taken place in west London.
It's alleged that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions between 6 and 12 September 1987.
The woman is now in her 50s.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said: "These charges follow an investigation by a team of Met detectives.
"Specially trained officers continue to support the woman who has come forward."
George will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Wednesday, 29 October.
