A 95-year-old woman was tied up during an attempted robbery by a man who offered to clean her windows, according to police.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were called to an address in Salford around 11am on Tuesday after it was reported than a man had demanded cash from a woman.
It is believed the man entered the woman's property after offering to clean her windows. Police say he then tied her hands together and demand her cash and purse.
The man was disturbed when another woman, who knew the victim, arrived at the property in Little Hulton. No injuries were reported, and the victim is being supported by officers.
Detective Inspector Paul Davies, from GMP's Salford district, said: "This was a vile incident in which a woman was tied up and threatened in an address, and we are determined to locate the man responsible."
Police have appealed for any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area at the time - or information from anyone who saw anything suspicious.
The suspect is described as being a white male, aged in his late 60s or early 70s. He was wearing a dark raincoat jacket, jeans and dark-coloured shoes. He had short, mousy brown hair which was combed back, no facial hair, glasses, and appeared neat and tidy.

DI Davies added: "Thankfully, this was not a more serious situation and we commend the brave actions of the lady's friend who confronted the man and called officers.
"As we progress this investigation, we are appealing for anyone with any information to please come forward.
"It could be something big or small - it all assists in our work."
