Manager Graeme 'Spike' Lee is now three unbeaten as Whitby Town saw off play-off chasing Curzon Ashton 1-0.
The Blues are just six points from third spot after another battling display on Saturday.
Early on, Callum Hickman flicked the ball Gazza-esque over a Nash defender and tried to play in Marley Grant, but a combination of Aidan Dowling and his defence managed to scramble clear.
Dowling then caught well from Sam Kay's header, just after the half hour and did well to deny Hickman, after the ex Boro Rangers man unleashed a goalbound low strike.
However, there was nothing Dowling or his defence could do, three minutes before half time. Hickman tried his luck from distance and the backtracking gloveman could only claw into the roof of his own net.
The away side came close just after the hour as Alex Curran headed wide and the same player should have levelled but rattled the post and Brad Holmes slammed the rebound high over the crossbar.
Whitby's on-loan Middlesbrough man Dan James drilled a free-kick and Vinnie Steels, also on a temporary stay, from Bishop Auckland saw his effort clutched by Dowling.
Timi Sobowale nodded a late Curzon corner wide and Oli Swan saved superbly to keep out Harvey Roberts.
Swan blocked from Roberts again, six minutes from time, with Joe Nolan clipping wide late on as Whitby stayed strong and are now just three points behind their ninth-placed opponents.
Attendance: 467
Next up for Town, a trip to FC United of Manchester, next Saturday.
