An Esso service station in Whitby has applied for a premises licence that would allow it to sell alcohol from 6am to 11pm, seven days a week.
A Whitby petrol station could sell alcohol from 6am onwards if plans are approved by the council.
Alcohol could be on sale from 6am daily at an Esso service station in Whitby as part of a premises licence application submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
Penny Petroleum Ltd’s proposal would see the Esso Whitby Service Station at Flowergate Cross selling alcohol seven days a week.
The proposed sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises would be permitted until 11pm.
Earlier this year, the service station became the 100th petrol station operated by Penny Petroleum.
Martin Wheller, Penny Petroleum’s chief financial officer, told the Forecourt Trader in May that once the site had been developed, the company was hoping to broaden its offering with fresh produce and alcohol.
The deadline for members of the public to comment on the premises licence application is Friday, October 30.
Anyone wishing to make representations regarding the application should give notice in writing to: North Yorkshire Council, Licensing Services, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG.
The authority can also be contacted by email at licensing.east@northyorks.gov.uk.
The council’s website states:
“It is an offence knowingly or recklessly to make a false statement in connection with an application punishable on summary conviction by an unlimited fine.”
