Moorland Railway and Gardens, based in Staintondale, welcomed members of the public through their doors on Sunday 2nd August, raising an impressive £760.50 for Whitby Hidden Impairments Support & Help (WHISH).
The successful fundraising day was carefully overseen by owners Alan and Lisa, who warmly welcomed visitors and, together with their dedicated team of volunteers, helped ensure everyone had a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Visitors enjoyed exploring the beautiful gardens and experiencing the charm of the miniature railway, with ride-on trains providing entertainment for children and adults alike. The event also featured a popular tombola, a plant stall offering a variety of garden favourites and delicious cream teas for
everyone to enjoy.
The atmosphere was fantastic, with visitors making the most of the day’s activities and the friendly hospitality provided by the Moorland Railway and Gardens team. The event brought the community together while raising valuable funds for WHISH.
WHISH would like to thank Alan, Lisa and their wonderful team of volunteers for all their hard work, dedication and efforts in organising such a successful fundraising event, adding:

“We were so pleased when Moorland Railway and Gardens asked if we would like to hold a stall at one of their monthly events. This allowed us to promote everything that WHISH tries to achieve in the community to visitors to the attraction. When we were
told that the entrance takings, train rides and cream teas would also be donated, it topped off what was a fantastic day for the WHISH volunteers and staff. We are so grateful for the donation and for allowing us to use their platform (no pun intended) to promote WHISH and our goals.“
Following this successful fundraising event, Moorland Railway and Gardens are looking forward to opening their doors again on the first Sunday in September, where they will be raising funds for Westway Open Arms, a homeless charity in Scarborough. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy another day of miniature railway rides, gardens, refreshments and family fun.
