The North Yorkshire Moors Railway restarts Passenger services today.
Steam trains will be back in Whitby this weekend as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway reopens to passengers for the first time since December.
From today the Railway will be operating trains to and from Whitby every day, as well as intermediate services between Pickering and Grosmont.
The railway will operate with Covid-19 mitigations in place, until the summer holidays, with pre-booked end to end services with a set departure and return time. Our intermediate services, between Pickering and Grosmont, will give passengers the opportunity to hop-on and hop-off and explore Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations.
Luke Hudman from the railway says there has been a lot going on during the lockdown closure.
Passengers will be able to get back on board the vintage locomotives in Whitby and Pickering.
Luke Hudman says it's great to see the railway coming back to life.
The online booking page for the railway explains the measures that have been put in place to ensure social distancing is maintained.

We are in this together so please respect our volunteers, staff, and other visitors. As part of our passenger responsibilities, we are asking:
• All passengers to wear a face covering on platforms, in refreshments areas and on the Pullman Dining train whilst being seated or when moving through the carriage. Exemptions apply, see our face covering FAQ.
• Everyone over 16years old is required to Track & Trace.
• We have introduced enhanced cleaning regimes and all carriages, compartments, and touch points are cleaned between services.
• Hand Sanitisers are available at various locations across the railway.
• We will be asking passengers to maintain social distancing whilst using our facilities.
If you are feeling unwell, we would ask that you or members of your party or family group do not attend the railway and we will endeavour to re-arrange your booking for a later date. If another date is not available balances will be transferred to a Gift Card."
