North Yorkshire's Fire service has this week deployed new state of the art breathing apparatus sets and associated equipment to firefighters in the county..
This milestone follows a rigorous procurement process and comprehensive training to ensure firefighters are fully equipped and confident in using the new technology.
BA sets are critical pieces of safety equipment for firefighters and are worn in environments where the atmosphere may cause difficulties with breathing such as smoke-filled buildings or chemical incidents.
The new BA sets, provided by MSA Safety, incorporate the most cutting-edge safety features available on the market. These include integrated audio and visual alerts to monitor air supply and automatically activate a distress signal if a firefighter is at risk.
Each BA set transmits live data to an electronic Telemetry Entry Control Board enabling real-time safety monitoring. The new facemasks feature enhanced communication technology, allowing for clear and distinguishable voice transmission

The introduction of new BA sets not only strengthens our operational capabilities but also ensures our teams are equipped with the most advanced technology available.
Crucially, this upgrade enhances our ability to protect the public enabling a safer and more effective response.
