Sleights FC's men's team has been successfully reformed and accepted back into the Beckett Football League, two years after the adult side was forced to fold.
The reformed men's team of Sleights FC have been officially accepted back into the Beckett Football League.
The return of the adult side marks a significant milestone for the club, which experienced a difficult period just two years ago when the senior setup was disbanded.
The club was previously forced to fold their adult team in 2022. The closure of the side came at a dramatic time, occurring just days after Sleights FC secured a victory against local rivals Goldsborough.
That triumphant match saw the team lift the Ryedale Hospital Cup after a final played at the Towbar Express Stadium.
Despite that cup final success, the adult side ceased operations shortly afterwards.
Now, the club is preparing for a new chapter under the leadership of their former boss, James Howard, who will return to manage the newly reformed side.
Preparations for the upcoming season are already underway, with the club announcing their new training schedule to prepare for the Beckett Football League.
The team will resume full training sessions starting in July. These sessions are scheduled to take place every Monday evening between 6pm and 7pm at Caedmon College.
The return of the men's team is seen as a positive step for local football in the area.
James Howard told This Is The Coast:
"It’s a great time to be starting sleights senior team up again. After several youth teams coming to an end, the timing is right.
"It’s good for the league and it’ll be good for the village to have a competitive team playing local football
"We’re looking forward to the challenges."
