Motorists are facing heavy delays and diversions following a serious collision that has closed the A64 in both directions between York and Malton.

Emergency services are at the scene of the incident, which occurred near High Hutton, just south of Malton.
Traffic is being diverted off the main carriageway via Huttons Ambo, but motorists are being warned that congestion in the surrounding area will remain extremely heavy for a considerable amount of time.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed officers are dealing with incident number 358 and have urged the public to avoid the area while emergency crews work at the scene.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
"Our officers are at the scene of a serious collision on the A64 between York and Malton. At this time the road is closed in both directions near High Hutton, just south of Malton.
Vehicles are being diverted off via Huttons Ambo. However, traffic in the area will be extremely heavy for some time.
Please find alternative routes for your journeys, and avoid this area while we work to make sure everyone is safe. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
