Whitby Town are preparing for a crucial away fixture against Ashton United in the NPL Premier, with their manager emphasising the importance of player self-belief.
An away fixture against seventh-placed Ashton United awaits Whitby Town as two sides with identical early-season records prepare to clash in the NPL Premier, on Tuesday.
Both teams have secured two victories and suffered one defeat so far this campaign, setting the stage for a tightly contested match between evenly matched opponents.
Confidence is expected to be a significant driving factor for the visiting side, who hold fond memories of this particular away trip. During last season's corresponding fixture, the Yorkshire Coast team secured a dominant four-one victory at Hurst Cross.
The coaching staff are working hard to ensure the players recognise their own potential ahead of the match. Manager Lee Bullock believes that mental fortitude and absolute confidence in their own abilities will be the deciding factors for his squad as they look to replicate last year's success:
"Yeah, that's all we keep telling them, like believe, trust yourselves, are you good enough to play this level? Yes, you are. Do you trust yourselves? If you've got any lingering doubts, we can't tell you anymore that you're good enough. Out there on the pitch is where you you prove it, they're all capable of playing this level. And some of them could probably nip up one or two if they if they address themselves right and keep progressing and listen to what Denny [assistant boss Denny Ingram] and myself are telling them."
The emphasis remains heavily on the players translating the management's faith into tangible on-pitch performances. With both sides looking to build on their positive starts of two wins from three matches, the upcoming encounter promises to be a stern test of the squad's resolve and ambition in the NPL Premier.
Kick off is 7.45pm with live commentary on This Is The Coast Extra from just before.
