Police Officers say they've received ongoing concerns from members of the community about vehicles parking on the pelican crossing in Seamer.
They responded:
"This is a serious safety issue—especially for pedestrians, including children and elderly residents—who rely on the crossing to safely navigate the area."
Over the past two months, local police have taken enforcement action and issued 10 Traffic Offence Reports to drivers found parking on or obstructing the crossing.
Police added the following warning:
"We’d like to remind everyone: Never park on or too close to a pelican crossing. Keep the zigzag lines clear—they are there to protect visibility for pedestrians and drivers. Even stopping briefly is not permitted—it poses a hazard and is against the law.
Let’s all do our part to keep our community safe. Your cooperation helps prevent accidents and keeps our streets accessible to everyone."
