As expected, thousands flocked to Scarborough's seafront to enjoy the Goldwing motorcycle parade, which raised £7,930.38 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
he chosen cause for the event is Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Their regional fundraiser is Rob Scott:
"Absolutely amazing. Again, the turnout's been phenomenal. Our Danielle went actually on the parade this year for the first time, and she cannot believe how many people are out here watching it from the one side of Scarborough to the other, just packed. You're absolutely heaving up the north side. I've been in this car park since seven o'clock this morning, so you don't actually see how many people are here.
"And Danielle's come back and she said it, dad, they said there's just thousands of them. Thousands of them. So amazing. Absolutely amazing. I think it's one of the biggest nights in Scarborough and a massive thank you to North north Yorkshire Council for carrying it on. There was a bit of a thing whether it was gonna carry on at one point, but.
I'm so glad they have, and then, the amazing job that they do with all the security and 'cause they take over the event from six o'clock and without them you just wouldn't be able to go ahead with all the road closures and what have you. So massive shout out to North Yorkshire Council."
Organiser Danielle Reed thanked all involved via social media:
'So where to start.
'I just want to say a massive well done to all the public and everyone who donated at the Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade. After spending the morning with Rob Scott, Kev and Jane, we can confirm you have helped us raise a staggering £7930.38 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
'Without your help and support throughout the event it would not be as successful as it is. I got to see first hand for the first time just how many turn out to watch the parade, and to say it made me emotional was an understatement. To see the smiles on everyone's faces and everyone enjoying it makes all the hard work worth while.
'A big big thank you needs to go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Team East, all the staff and volunteers who were on their feet for at least 14 hours yesterday (voluntary) collecting for the charity.
'A special thank you to all the riders who turned out with their Goldwings for the parade. Without the distance you travel to get here and the time you take to dress your bikes up, there simply would be no light parade if it wasn't for you.
'Lastly but no ways least, I want to thank my own children, my parents and closest friends for all your support not just on the day, but throughout the year.
'I am now going to have a restful Sunday (what's left of it) before normal work starts again tomorrow and I will be announcing the date for the 2026 Goldwing Light Parade as soon as I have it confirmed.'
Rob says there are ideas for future venues if the West Pier area is closed for works:
" We have got some irons in the fire. People have come forward with venues, still on the, so we can still use the sea front. But where the bikes would be parked might be a little bit different when they start the work down here, which will happen at some point. We, it's bound to happen.
"We've, I think, we've had it six, seven years now. We will be. 70, 80,000 pound plus from this event. Yeah. It was phenomenal amount of money. The Gold Wings themselves, if it worked for them, there wouldn't be an event. And they travel from all over the UK and even further, some of them come from Holland and all sorts just to come and ride at this. It's amazing."
