Scarborough Hospital Charity Seeks Business Support

The York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity is asking local businesses to get involved in it's £400,000 fundraising appeal.

The charity is raising funds for the new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre at Scarborough Hospital which is due to welcome its first patients in April 2024. It's now asking Yorkshire Coast firms to join in with the fundraising by joining it's "Business Club".

The York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity is running an appeal to raise £400,000 to support the build. In addition to fundraising, the charity will be committing a further £400,000 from existing funds to enhance patient care and experience and support staff wellbeing in the new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre at Scarborough Hospital.

The Scarborough Urgent and Emergency Care Centre build is the largest scheme ever undertaken by the Trust, which it says demonstrates commitment to the long-term future of Scarborough Hospital.

The project includes a two-storey new build, combining and expanding the current emergency department, same day emergency care and the acute medical unit, and improving outcomes for the frail elderly. The second floor will care for those patients with more critical needs in new intensive care, coronary care and high dependency units. It will ensure some of the poorliest patients in the hospital are cared for in one integrated clinical ward environment rather than being moved to other wards.

Charity Manager Rachel Brook explaining where exactly the additional funds will be applied.

York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity is raising money to fund the extras, over and above what can be funded as part of the scheme, to improve patient care and experience and improve staff wellbeing.

The charity is asking local businesses to partner with them and commit to raising £1,000 towards the appeal. This can be through donations, employee fundraising or holding your own events.

Here is Rachel once again with some ideas, including getting involved with the Business Club.

The charity say:

"By signing up you will be aligning your business with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s biggest ever investment in Scarborough Hospital. Your staff and colleagues will be supporting the improvement of urgent and emergency care treatment for patients who visit and stay at the hospital, which could include themselves, their families, or friends.

Other benefits include:
•    Continuing to support your local community and further improve your CSR
•    Employees can be involved with fundraising and volunteering opportunities
•    Your company will be recognised on the appeal website
•    Your company logo will be recognised within the entrance to the new build
•    You will receive mentions on social media and in local press
•    You will receive regular updates on the project
•    You will receive an invitation to an exclusive pre-opening event
•    The charity can hold talks for your staff about the difference your support is making"
