More hosts are needed on the Yorkshire Coast to help families fleeing war-torn Ukraine.
That's the message from the Sunflower Appeal Group. They've been helping people fleeing the war zone to connect with hosts in the Scarborough Borough and supporting them once they arrive.
Iain Butterworth says families are continuing to leave Ukraine and the group needs more local help.
Iain says the group managed to take in a significant number of Ukrainian families earlier in the year and has been working since to help integrate them with the local community and provide help with finding schools, learning English and finding work.
Iain says the groups work is ongoing and that there is more to do.
With a number of the families that relocated to the Yorkshire Coast now finding places to rent rather than remaining with their initial host families the Sunflower Group is also appeal for donations of furniture and household goods to help get the Ukrainian families established.
In a social media post the group say:
"We are still receiving lots of requests for household goods and furniture. We continue to distribute what we have when this is received. But we are still in need of household goods and good quality furniture. We have an immediate need for double beds.
If you have, or know of anyone who is willing to donate household goods and furniture, please do let us know!"
