For a good number of people on the Yorkshire Coast the Queen was not only their monarch but also their landlord.
A number of properties around Cloughton, Scalby and Goathland are owned by the Duchy of Lancaster which effectively manages land on behalf of the Sovereign.
The Duchy of Lancaster is responsible for managing an investment portfolio of land, property and financial investments. The rural estates consist of 18,481 hectares of land in England and Wales and comprise commercial, agricultural and residential properties, the majority of which are in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Lincolnshire.
Scarborough businessman Tony Peers was one of her tenants and met Her Majesty on a couple of occasions.
Tony was also responsible for producing the entertainment show put on for the Queen when she last visited Scarborough back in 2010 for the official opening of the revamped Open Air Theatre.
The special show featured hundreds of local Children.
Tony Peers says The Queen seemed to enjoy the show.
