The Scarborough Borough Covid-19 infection has fallen once again.
The borough’s seven-day coronavirus infection rate per 100,000 people has dropped to 14, down three on yesterday.
It means the borough is averaging 15 new cases a week, down from 25 last week.
Scarborough’s rate is the second lowest in the county behind Richmondshire on 9 and below the national average, which is currently 21.
North Yorkshire County Council chief executive Richard Flinton has praised the ongoing vaccination effort across the region.
In an email to residents in the county he wrote:
“Our wonderful NHS colleagues, supported by an army of volunteers, have successfully administered nearly 380,000 doses of the vaccine here in North Yorkshire.
“Take-up here remains good and, together with a robust testing programme, this is extremely important to our road map out of restrictions.
“Thank you to everyone who is supporting this and we are reassured that supply will be in place to ensure that we reach that target of offering all adults a first dose by the end of July.
“Together, all these measures will help us unlock summer and we are grateful for everyone’s support.”
