Scarborough Borough COVID Infection Rate Increases

The Scarborough borough's coronavirus infection rate has hit its highest level since February.

The borough’s rate now stands at 40 cases per 100,000 people on a seven day average, with around six new cases being recorded every day.

The rate has jumped up by six from yesterday and is the highest level in Scarborough since February 28 when it hit 44.

The infection rate for England is up by two to 57 while in North Yorkshire as a whole it is 47, a rise of three on yesterday.

The Hambleton and Craven districts have the lowest rates in the county with figures of 33 and 35 respectively, both have also seen their figures rise in the last 24 hours.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

William Street Coach Park in Scarborough is also still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
