Scarborough Borough COVID Infection Rate Falls Further

Friday, 7 May 2021 11:51

By Carl Gavaghan, Local Democracy Reporter

The Scarborough Borough’s Covid-19 infection rate has fallen to its lowest level since September.

The borough’s seven-day coronavirus infection rate per 100,000 people has dropped to 11, down three on yesterday.

It is the lowest the borough’s rate has got since September 1 last year when it also hit 11. At that time the rate was rising having dropped all the way to zero in August.

It means the borough is averaging just 12 new cases a week, down from 25 last week.

Scarborough’s rate is once again the lowest in the county and it remains below the national average, which is currently 20.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this weekend for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

William Street Coach Park in Scarborough is also still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
