The RNLI on the Yorkshire Coast is looking for new volunteers to join its lifesaving teams.
The life saving charity has a variety of roles available in Bridlington, Flamborough and Scarborough including roles on the lifeboats, in the fundraising teams and the water safety teams.
Here are just some of the current vacancies available:
Bridlington
- All-weather Lifeboat Crew: This role involves ensuring the all-weather lifeboats are ready for service. You'll be on call to crew the lifeboat under the command of the coxswain. You will need to undertake training to maintain competency, attend exercises, and help with the general upkeep of the station, lifeboats, and equipment. You should be a team player and good communicator, with general fitness and the ability to learn new skills. Apply by 15th March 2025.
- Inshore Lifeboat Crew: You'll join the team responsible for ensuring the inshore lifeboats are always ready to launch. This role requires being on call to crew the lifeboat under the command of the Helm. You'll also need to undertake training, attend exercises, and contribute to the upkeep of the station, lifeboats, and equipment. You should be a team player and good communicator with general fitness and the ability to learn new skills. Apply by 15th March 2025.
- Lifeboat Operations Manager: As the leader of the station team, you will authorise the launch of the lifeboats. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that all operations are carried out to keep the lifeboats and equipment ready to launch. This role requires leadership skills, local maritime knowledge, and the ability to work as part of a team. Apply by 15th March 2025.
Flamborough
- Events Organiser: This role involves suggesting and developing a variety of fundraising events, from coffee mornings and quizzes to runs and Lifeboat Fun Days. You'll be the main point of contact for planning, organisation, and delivery, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. You'll need excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail, and IT literacy. Apply by 16th March 2025.
- Shop Volunteer: Help the Flamborough shop run smoothly by delivering excellent customer service, operating the till and card machine, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Enthusiasm, good communication skills, and confidence in handling money are essential for this role. Apply by 16th March 2025.
- Volunteer Fundraiser: You will participate in planning and delivering various fundraising activities in the community and online. Working with the fundraising team, you'll support RNLI campaigns, encourage new supporters, and champion the RNLI in your area. This role requires enthusiasm, good interpersonal and communication skills, and a flexible approach. Apply by 16th March 2025.
Scarborough
- Water Safety Officer: This role requires designing and implementing a Water Safety and Lifesaving Plan to reduce preventable deaths and incidents. You'll coordinate activities, lead water safety meetings, and work closely with the local Lifeboat Operations Team and Water Safety team. Good knowledge/experience of coastal/inland waterways and local water-based activity are essential for this role. Apply by 2nd February 2025.
