People living and working in Eastfield are being urged to attend a drop-in session on Thursday 8th October to help shape how a £3.2 million grant and future regeneration funds will be spent in the rapidly expanding town.
Ideas for the future of Eastfield will be gathered at a dedicated drop-in event on Thursday 8th October.
Residents, business owners, and visitors are being invited to share their views on the rapidly expanding town and explore options for spending a multi-million-pound funding pot.
The engagement session will take place at the More Than Books Library on the High Street, running from 1pm until 5pm.
Two major investment plans are currently being shaped for the area. Alongside a wider regeneration programme, the local community will help steer a plan to spend a remaining grant of approximately £3.2 million.
This capital funding is a ringfenced sum specifically for Eastfield, stemming from an original agreement between the former Scarborough Borough Council and Keepmoat Homes.
A broader Town Investment Plan is also being developed to guide future funding bids, ensuring they are accurately targeted towards local priorities.
Project organisers said:
"To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how you think it could be improved."
The initiative is part of a wider regeneration programme spanning thirty-two towns across the county. The work is supported by the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith, and receives funding from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Eastfield has seen significant expansion in recent years, boasting direct rail links to Scarborough and York, as well as several thriving business and industrial parks situated nearby.
Future investment strategies will focus on several key themes. These include enabling enterprise, creating a sustainable settlement, protecting local heritage, promoting growth and resilience, and improving social and personal well-being.
All feedback gathered from the upcoming drop-in session, alongside a local survey, will be used to create the final plans for both projects.
Attendees at the library event will be asked to share their broader ideas for the town, view draft projects, and provide input on how the £3.2 million capital money should be allocated to improve the area.
