More than 2,000 students and their families have explored future career opportunities at a record-breaking apprenticeship event in East Yorkshire.
Future career paths and local employment opportunities have been explored by a record number of young people at a major apprenticeship exhibition in East Yorkshire.
More than 2,000 students and their family members attended the Hull and East Riding Apprenticeship Expo, which took place at Bishop Burton on Wednesday the 30th of September.
Pupils in Years 11, 12, and 13 from schools across the East Riding and Hull utilised the daytime sessions to speak directly with local apprenticeship and training providers.
The daytime event saw over 1,000 young people visit alongside their teachers and classmates. This was followed by a dedicated evening session, which welcomed a further 1,000 young people who attended with their families to discuss their options for the future.
More than 50 employers and training providers set up stalls at the educational event to showcase their respective industries.
Attendees had the chance to engage with representatives from major local and national organisations, including Arco, Swift, Hobson & Porter, and the Avant Skills Academy.
Other prominent exhibitors offering guidance included BAM UK, Choose Care, GGP Consult, Pitman Training, Reckitt, and the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, alongside numerous local colleges.
Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, Councillor Victoria Aitken, said:
"The apprenticeship expo is always a great event for our young people and this year was bigger and better, with over 1000 young people coming along with their school, and a further 1000 young people and their families attending at the evening session.
It’s the perfect opportunity for young people to speak to a range of organisations to explore the opportunities available here in East Yorkshire. Employers from a range of industries, including engineering, manufacturing, social care, pharmaceutical and food production, engaged with young people to help them as they plan their next steps and future careers."
The careers initiative was jointly organised to support school leavers by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hull City Council, and Bishop Burton College.
