The annual Scalby Charity Walk on Easter Monday has raised a record £3,000 for local causes, prompting organisers to launch a fresh appeal for volunteers ahead of Scalby Fair Week.
A record-breaking amount of money has been raised by the annual Scalby Charity Walk, with organisers now issuing a fresh appeal for volunteers to help deliver the upcoming Scalby Fair.
The popular Easter Monday event proved to be extremely busy, as more than 200 walkers stepped up to complete the six-mile route.
Participants made their way through the picturesque North Yorkshire villages of Scalby, Burniston, and Cloughton to raise essential funds for good causes.
The charity walk was hosted by This Is The Coast presenter Paddy Billington, who helped to keep spirits high as the community came together for the occasion.
This year, the walkers managed to raise a record-breaking total of £3,000.
The impressive sum has been shared between three local organisations: Futureworks NY, Newby and Scalby Library, and Scarborough Mates.

Following the tremendous success of the Easter Monday walk, the dedicated team at Scalby Fair are already working hard to deliver the highly anticipated Scalby Fair Week.
The week-long celebration is set to commence on the 12th of June, culminating in the main Scalby Fair Day on Saturday the 20th of June.
A packed schedule of community events has been planned for the week.
The festivities will include a traditional Ceilidh, a Tug of War, and a Classic and Vintage Car Show.
Live entertainment will feature a Beckview Lounge Concert, a YMCA show, and a performance by Soul Rida.
Residents can also look forward to a Summer Pub Quiz, a Treasure Hunt, a Wine Tasting evening, a Beer Festival, and a Flower Festival.
While the final details of the schedule are still being finalised, the full programme will be published very soon on the official Scalby Fair website, as well as on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
In the meantime, a call has been put out for community members to lend a helping hand to ensure the main event runs smoothly.
Nigel Sheppard, from the Scalby Fair committee, said:
"Scalby Fair is run entirely by volunteers. We have over 70 last year. If you would like to help on 20th June can you please Email scalbyfairvolunteers@gmail.com. Volunteer slots are 2 hours and you get a free burger and an invite to Scalby Fair’s post Fair BBQ."
