Quick FA Cup Replay Welcomed After Heartbreaking Late Draw For Scarborough Athletic

Scarborough Athletic will face a rapid FA Cup replay against Macclesfield on Tuesday after conceding two late goals in a heart-breaking two-all draw.

A midweek FA Cup replay awaits Scarborough Athletic following a dramatic collapse in the final moments of their weekend fixture.

The squad will host fellow National North side Macclesfield at the Scarborough Sports Village on Tuesday night, just three days after being held to a heart-breaking two-all draw.

Progression in the competition had looked certain for Scarborough until the opposition scored twice in the last two minutes, forcing a rapid turnaround for both squads.

Despite the disappointing conclusion to the initial tie, the quick succession of fixtures is being viewed as a positive opportunity to bounce back immediately.

Scarborough Athletic's manager, Jono Greening, spoke to SAFC TV about the benefits of a swift return to action and the need to reset.

Jono Greening said:

"Yeah, I think so. I think so. Like as a football player, when I was playing, you know, you just want to play every single game. You want to be involved in every game, no matter what competition it is. Um, and for me, I just said to the players in there, it's another game where you can go and test yourselves against a really good team, uh, which you've done today and produced really good stuff. Um, but you've got to do it again in two, three days time, so you've got to get yourself ready. And that's not just physically, that's mentally as well. So you talk about Rio and Mo, missing a few chances today, mentally, they've got to get that out of the system and be ready for Tuesday night to go again and uh try and get them opportunities again and this time, put it in the back of the net."

Kick off at Scarborough Sports Village is 7.45pm.

£5,625 and progress to the FA Cup's final qualifying round, where the winners will host Leicestershire side Anstey Nomads, is up for grabs.

Nomads play at the level below in the Southern League Central, equivalent to Whitby's NPL Premier.
