Local Police Officers have been conducting speed checks in Lebberston, Cayton and Flixton today.
North Yorkshire Police say they have been attending these locations after discussions with the local community who highlighted them as areas they believe drivers speed excessively.
PC 671 Waterman and PC 341 Jackson said:
"We had the pleasure of educating and discussing excessive speed with three members of the public who were slightly over the limit. It was discussed how even being slightly over can have a big affect on stopping distances and putting the public at risk.
However, one driver was caught at 37mph in a 30mph zone. This driver has been issued a traffic offence report and will be prosecuted for the excess speed.
We will continue to conduct these checks when possible in a variety of locations."
