North Yorkshire Needs "Proportionate" Response to Omicron

Take simple precautions is the message from North Yorkshire's emergency planners as they work on the county's response to the new Omicron COVID variant.

There's a call for a proportionate response to the new COVID variant from emergency planners in North Yorkshire.

Chair of the local resilience forum, Richard Flinton says we need to make sure we don't lose some of the gains that have been made in recent months in terms of health and business.

Facemasks were reintroduced in shops and on public transport last week. Richard Flinton says that's part of a sensible response to the potential dangers. Director of Public Health Louise Wallace says taking simple COVID safety steps will help.
