North Yorkshire's Chief Constable says the force is taking issues of police misconduct seriously.
Lisa Winward says the North Yorkshire Force is taking part in a national trial of a new system to help them identify when serving officers have committed offences elsewhere.
A recent Freedom of information request highlighted the number of misconduct hearings carried out by the North Yorkshire Force in the last few years.
| Year | Misconduct Hearings | Sexual Misconduct hearings | Non-sexual Misconduct Hearings |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018/2019 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
| 2019/2020 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2020/2021 | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| 2021/2022 | 8 | 2 | 6 |
The Chief Constable says a number of officers have been dismissed in recent years after misconduct incidents have come to light.
