New-Look Whitby Town Come From Behind To Exorcise Leek Demons

A newly-built Blues side took revenge after last season's loss in Staffordshire.

Whitby fell behind inside 12 minutes, but roared back with two second-half strikes from their former Boro Rangers stars.

Cal Hickman clipped the post after a defensive error late in the first period which brought Whitby to their best spell, peppering the hosts from then on.

They started the second half as they ended the first and deservedly when Ben Turner picked out Hickman who squared for skipper Stu Rose to finish well for 1-1 at the back post.

Midway through the second half, Joey Phuthi's beautiful right-wing cross found Hickman who finished well to put the Seasiders in front for the first time.

Turner chipped inches over from his own half, moments later with Marley Grant also coming close after his introduction.

At the other end, Jack Norton produced two top-class saves, his best deep into injury time at the neat-post.

Another ex-Boro Rangers star was defender James Dillon, who was also on top form, he spoke to Whitby Town TV post-match.

Blues boss Lee Bullock was proud of his side and wants to see more of the second half showing when Town host Guiseley on Tuesday:
