New Location for Bridlington's October Fair

Organisers of this week's Bridlington Fair have promised that the annual event will be as good as ever when it returns to the town on its new location.

This years' event will take place at Bridlington Caravan Centre on Bessingby Way just past McDonalds and Morrisons. The usual location at Moorfields road is unavailable as it is being used as a COVID-19 testing centre.

The Showmen’s Guild, who organise the event,  have promised that this year’s fair will be no different to previous events with a host of new rides plus the old favourites usually associated with the fair including its games and food and confectionery units.

The event runs from Wednesday 20th until Sunday 24th of October and the fair will open from 5.30pm until 10pm on weekdays, from 1pm until 10.pm on Saturday and from 2pm until 7pm on Sunday.

Garry Leach Chairman of the Yorkshire Section of the Showmen's Guild said:

“The fair like others across the country is going ahead but we do ask the public if you feel unwell please take a COVID-19 test before attending the fair and please do not attend if you have tested positive in the last ten days or are self-isolating. Our members operating the equipment will do their bit and are cleaning down the rides and touch points more often, we have hand sanitiser on all the attractions too and one-way systems in place on rides. Please follow the instructions and like all the other businesses that are open in the town please come and enjoy yourselves at what will be a wonderful fair! Bridlington Fair is very important not just to the heritage of the Showmen’s Guild but also to the town as it is a Statute Fair and one of the oldest fairs in the country having been granted permission by charter in 1446 to attend the town each year.

Despite having rides on the seafront local people always support the fair that they regard as their own and we look forward to attending each year and the showmen hope to continue this tradition for many years to come in the town.”

Amongst the attractions on offer this year will be the Sky Flyer making its first appearance in the town, swinging riders 30m skywards with some amazing views. SuperBob, a spinning monster of a ride where riders sit in one of twenty Bob Sleigh cars which spin around a circular track will be back and there will be the new eXtreme. There will also be return visits by the Waltzer, Tagada, Twist and the Miami which will spin its daring guests in a circular motion.

The children are not forgotten either with a mini-carousel, a pirate boat, train ride, cups and saucers, trampolines and the stomach tingling Jumpin’ Jack amongst the dozen rides while games include traditional hook-a-duck to the skilful ball in bucket. But the organisers, the Yorkshire Section of the Showmen’s Guild have some safety messages for their guests with

The event organisers say that "there is no car parking on the fairground itself but there is car parking nearby."
