North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are introducing a new app to help on-call fire fighters work smarter.
The fire service relies on part time on-call staff to provide cover in more rural parts of the county.
Director of Tranformation Phil Whild says changes in the way people work means they now need a better way for the on-call staff to let the control room know when they are not available:
Phil also feels that companies that enable their staff to be on-call firefighters, in North Yorkshire, need more recognition for the good they do.
He says the service is looking at ways of giving something back to those firms.
This might include certificates or more detailed promotion for that business.
Phil feels they deserve more:
The news comes after a relatively quiet Bonfire Weekend on the Yorkshire Coast.
