Rhys Jones and Katie Cooper, of the New Inn Bridlington were awarded the Best Turnaround Pub of the Year Award at the national Craft Union Pub Company Operator Awards 2023.
Now in their eighth year the awards recognise the incredible work carried out by Craft Union Operators and highlight their dedication and devotion to putting their pubs at the heart of their local communities. The best of the best were shortlisted into a range of categories, from sales and growth to sports performance, with the awards focusing across all areas of the business.
The shortlisted finalists were all invited to a celebratory awards ceremony hosted by Director of Craft Union, Frazer Grimbleby and Director of Group Transitions, Carol Roderickson, who were also on hand to announce the winners.
The judges said :
"Rhys and Katie have gone to extraordinary lengths to turn this pub around. The couple have created a great community pub with a host of activities, promotions and fundraising events that has seen the local community flood back to support. "
On winning the award Rhys said,
“We have enjoyed every moment in the New Inn, we have a fantastic community here and we wanted to create an environment that everybody within our community feels included. To win this award above all the other Craft Union businesses was a great honour.”
Director of Craft Union, Frazer Grimbleby said:
“I felt immensely proud to have hosted the Craft Union awards evening for our Operators, who do so much to serve their communities. This wonderful occasion was an opportunity for us to come together to celebrate and recognise the best of the best. Reward and recognition has always been, and will continue to be, a key part of the very special Craft Union culture of which I am so proud.”
Craft Union Pub Company launched its 500th site earlier this year, the Royal Standard in Leicester, and is now comprises 559 sites around the country.
