A man charged with murder in Thornton-Le-Dale will appear at York Magistrates Court.
A 33-year-old man from Leeds was charged with murder on Friday, after a woman's body was found at a property, on High Street, in the sleepy village, near Pickering, on Wednesday.
North Yorkshire Police were granted extra time to interview the man before charging him with the offence.
Speaking before the man was charged, Detective Superintendent Wayne Fox said:
"I want to reassure the local community that, whilst this is a tragic event, North Yorkshire Police are satisfied that we are currently dealing with an isolated incident.
"Our thoughts and sincere condolences go out to the family of the woman who sadly lost her life and they are currently being supported by specially trained officers.
