The A169 Blue Bank will be closed during daytime hours for five days from Monday, 19 October, to allow for annual maintenance works.
A major route in and out of Whitby will be closed next week as a programme of annual roadworks gets underway.
The A169 Blue Bank is set to shut for five days, with the disruption starting on Monday, 19 October.
Daytime travellers will face the brunt of the restrictions. The route will be entirely closed to traffic between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day to allow crews to safely carry out the necessary maintenance.
Anyone planning to walk through the area will also need to make alternative arrangements. Project leaders have stated that absolutely no pedestrian access will be available while the works are actively taking place.
Despite the strict daytime closures, measures are being implemented to support the local community directly impacted by the roadworks. On-site personnel will be present throughout the five-day period to assist in managing access for those needing to reach properties and businesses situated within the boundaries of the closure.
