Scarborough Spa have announced that the legendary Level 42 will be playing a special one off concert in the Spa Grand Hall in 2026.
The concert will take place on December 6th 2026.
Level 42 are one of the greatest pop and funk bands of the ‘80s, with hits like “Lessons in Love” and “Running in the Family”. The group are currently on a "World Machine" 40th anniversary UK tour bringing back their classics and surprising fans with new material.
‘World Machine’ was the album that changed everything for Level 42, and set them on the path to true super-stardom. Released in 1985, it was a hit both in the UK and in the States, and has now been certified double Platinum. It was on this album, the band’s sixth, that arguably they nailed down the sound and the style that made them one of the biggest groups in the world. On this album they refined the funky pop fusion that had grown from their jazz roots – and had already brought them serious success – and truly made it their own. ‘World Machine’ features the singles ‘Something About You’ (the band’s only American top 10 hit) and ‘Leaving Me Now’, and it showed the band’s progression in style and confidence that would lead to their massive ‘Running In The Family’ album the following year.
The Scarborough concert in December 2026 will be a special one off concert.
Frontman and bassist Mark King is a musician who has truly created a sound and style all of his own and is in constant demand, both from the fans and from his peers, along with founder member Mike Lindup who continues to provide the soundscape and vocals that are unmistakably Level 42.
To date, the band and Mark have released 14 studio albums, 7 live albums, the Sirens’ EP, and 6 compilation albums, had 18 top 40 singles, including the era-defining ‘Lessons in Love’, ‘Something About You’, ‘Leaving Me Now’, ‘Running in the Family’, and ‘Hot Water’, sold out Wembley Arena for a total of 21 nights and sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide. In short, they have proven to be one of the most successful British bands ever and it is clear they continue to set the benchmark for British Jazz Funk.
