The visit was to find out how staff have risen to the challenges of the past few months.
During the visit The Princess Royal conducted the official opening of the Willow Eye Unit where Her Royal Highness heard how the new unit had seen significant investment in brand new diagnostic equipment and clinical, which has allowed services to expand.
Her Royal Highness met with a wide range of staff including doctors and nurses from the Emergency Department, the PPE store, the Intensive Care Unit and the Covid wards.
In addition, the Princess met staff from a wide number of services and professions including porters and domestic staff, all of whom have played a crucial role in providing care for patients with Covid-19.
