Further Rise in Scarborough Borough COVID Infection Rate

Tuesday, 30 March 2021 10:51

By Carl Gavaghan, Local Democracy Reporter

The seven day average infection rate in the borough has been steadily climbing since March 9th.

Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate continues to climb as it rises above the North Yorkshire average.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people is up to 48, a rise of three on yesterday.

On March 9 the borough’s rate dropped to 20 but has been moving up steadily throughout the month.

Scarborough’s rate is now above the North Yorkshire average, 44, and just eight behind the average for England.

Selby remains the only district in North Yorkshire with a higher infection rate than Scarborough.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week for anyone with symptoms to get tested.

William Street Coach Park in Scarborough is also still offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.

Tests can be booked at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
