The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for parts of the Yorkshire coast.
The alerts warn of possible flooding due to a combination of wind, tides, and sea spray.
The areas affected are:
- The North Sea coast from Bridlington to Barmston.
- The North Sea coast from Whitby to Filey, including Scarborough.
The alerts are in place for the following times:
- Bridlington to Barmston: Between 4:30 pm and 9:30 pm on Monday, 30th September 2024.
- Whitby to Filey: Between 6 pm and 9:30 pm on Monday, 30th September 2024.
The agency warns that low-lying land, promenades, and roads could be affected. Large waves and sea spray could also pose a danger. The public is advised to be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, and roads.
The Environment Agency say they will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
