North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue say an emergency first responder attended a 79 year old male with chest pains.
It happened around 8.30pm on Friday night on Whitby Road.
General observations were taken before the casualty was handed over to paramedics.
The man was believed to be taken to hospital for further tests and treatment.
